Privacy policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
Receipts is a private app used by its owner, Marc Abla. It is not offered to the public and has no other users. This policy explains what the app does with the data it handles, including data from a connected Google account.
What the app collects
- Photos of receipts you take or choose, and the details read from them (vendor, date, amounts, last four digits of a payment card when printed).
- The tags you add: business or personal, category or accounting account, event, people present, purpose, notes, and which card paid.
- Lists you keep in the app: people, groups, events, categories, payment methods (name and last four digits only, never a full card number).
How Google user data is used
If you connect a Google account, the app asks only for permission to create and manage files it created itself (the "drive.file" scope). It uses that permission to:
- create a folder named Receipts in your Google Drive, with year and month subfolders;
- save receipt PDFs into those folders, and rename or replace them when you edit a receipt;
- create and update a Google Sheet named Receipt Log in that folder.
The app cannot see, read or change any other file in your Google Drive. It reads your Google account's email address only to show which account is connected.
Storage and sharing
- Receipt images are read once by an AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) to extract the details, then stored only as PDFs in your OneDrive or Google Drive.
- Tags, lists and a record of each filed receipt are kept in the app's own database, hosted on Cloudflare.
- The Google sign-in token is stored encrypted and is used only for the actions above.
- Google user data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. Business receipts are shared with the organization's bookkeeper as part of normal accounting.
Your choices
You can disconnect Google in the app's settings at any time, which revokes the app's access and deletes its stored token. Files already saved stay in your Drive under your control. You can also remove access from your Google account's security settings.
